Where To Stay In Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit various budgets from low-budget hostels to luxurious high-end hotels.
Here are some recommendations for where to stay in Dubrovnik based on different budget levels:
Low Budget Accommodation Dubrovnik
- Hostels: There are several hostels in Dubrovnik that offer affordable dormitory beds and basic amenities. Hostel 365 For U and Hostel Free Bird are two popular options with a central location.
- Guesthouses: Apartments Sv. Jakov and Rooms Ivo provide budget-friendly accommodation options.
- Apartments: Downtown MaritA207 and Helikon offer a whole apartment for a decent price.
Mid-Range Budget Accommodation Dubrovnik
- 3-star hotels: There are many mid-range hotels in Dubrovnik that offer comfortable rooms and amenities without breaking the bank. Art Hotel Dubrovnik and Hotel Lero are two examples worth considering.

Keep in mind that Dubrovnik is a popular tourist destination, and prices can vary depending on the season and demand.
It’s advisable to book your accommodation well in advance, especially if you plan to visit during the peak summer months.
Day 1 Itinerary in Dubrovnik
Morning
Begin your tour by visiting the City Walls of Dubrovnik.
This is one of the best and most beautiful things to do in the city as it gives you stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and the city below.
The walls were built between the 13th and 15th centuries as defensive walls against the Ottomans and Venetians.
*Keep the ticket with you as this will be the same ticket you will need for the Loverijenac fortress the next day.
Take a stroll along the city walls by passing several important historical landmarks, including the Minceta Tower, the Lovrijenac Fortress, and the Bokar Fortress.
In any case, I recommend you buy the tickets in advance so you skip the line.
Moreover, visiting the walls in the morning, especially in summer, is a better option as there is hardly any shade. Don’t forget your hat, sunglasses and water!
Afternoon
First thing in the afternoon, begin your tour at the Pile Gate, one of the city’s main entrances, before wandering through the maze of narrow streets and alleys that make up the Old Town.
You can pick up a map at the Tourist Board near the Pile Gate.
Be sure to visit the Onofrio Fountain, the Rector’s Palace, and the Dubrovnik Cathedral, all of which are must-see landmarks in the city.
You can explore Sponza Palace, Porat Port, Stradun and Vrata od Buže.
For lunch, I recommend the restaurant Lucian Kantun for its delicious tapas.
Evening
Finish your first day by taking the cable car ride to the top of Srd. Hill, 415 meters above sea level.
You can find the cable car a few minutes away from the Old Town.
The ride only takes 5 minutes each way. I recommend it for the experience and the views.
I suggest you go at the sunset hour so you can see the sunset by sipping on your cocktail at the Panorama Restaurant & Bar.
Day 2 Itinerary in Dubrovnik
Morning
On your second day in Dubrovnik, start the day with a visit to the Loverijenac fortress, one of the most pretty places in Dubrovnik for the views.
You will need a ticket from the City Walls of Dubrovnik to enter the fortress at no additional cost. Whether you are a fan of Game of Thrones or not, this is a site you can’t miss.
Next, walk around the West Harbour and head to Banje Beach, the city’s most famous beach.
The walk will take you around 16 minutes.
Here, you can soak up the sun, swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea, and even try water sports like kayaking and snorkelling.
Afternoon
Head back to the Old Town for lunch. I suggest the restaurant Barba.
You can explore some of Dubrovnik’s lesser-known neighbourhoods, like Lapad or Gruz if you have the option of renting a car or taking a taxi or bus.
These areas offer a different perspective on the city and are home to some great bars and restaurants.
You can also visit the island of Lokrum by taking a ferry from the harbour in the Old Town. The ride takes around 20 minutes.
On the island, you can relax at the beach, and visit the botanical gardens, the Benedictine monastery or the Fort Royal.
Peacocks roam the island freely and there is a colony of rabbits you can feed by hand. You can buy the tickets to Lokrum from Dubrovnik below.
Evening
As evening falls, you can relax in the Lacroma restaurant on the island of Lokrum or head back to the mainland to Buza Bar, a popular cliffside bar that offers spectacular views of the sea and the sunset.
This bar is the perfect spot to relax with a drink and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful city.
To finish off with the 2 Days In Dubrovnik Itinerary, for dinner, you can try one of the city’s many seafood restaurants, where you can sample freshly caught fish and seafood dishes. I suggest the restaurant Heritage of Dubrovnik.

Tips for Visiting Dubrovnik
Get comfortable shoes to walk around and to get up the many steps you can find on the sites. The floors are made of stones, so make sure you have a good grip!

If you want to have an overall view of Dubrovnik and its sites, then yes, 2 days are enough to visit the city.
The town is pretty compact so you will be able to visit the main attractions of Dubrovnik.
Nevertheless, if you want to explore a bit further and travel at a slower pace, allow a few more extra days.
Lastly, I suggest having a full week in Dubrovnik so you can do great trips from Dubrovnik and visit museums.
The peak season starts from May to September, with July and August being the busiest months.
I visited in June and it was not as crowded as expected but it was quite hot. I recommend you visit in the shoulder months (May or September) so you can beat the crowds and the heat.
The first thing that comes to mind is, of course, Game of Thrones. Second, Dubrovnik is known for its stunning medieval Old Town, enclosed by ancient city walls and overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
