Having been abroad for so many years, Málaga Airport was the first place to welcome me home. It has seen a few tears but also laughs and excitement for new adventures.

Getting from the airport to the city centre requires some planning.

How to Get from Málaga Airport to the City Centre by Bus

The pros are that the bus is more budget-friendly than other modes of transportation, buses operate on a fixed schedule and you can enjoy the picturesque scenery during your journey.

The cons are that buses take longer compared to other modes of transport and buses can get crowded, especially during peak hours.

Location: Locate the bus stop just outside the arrivals hall. Board the A Express bus (A Line) for a direct route to the city centre.

The ticket price is 4 euros per person and you can purchase them directly from the driver by VISA or Mastercard or cash. You can also get the tickets inside the terminal at the airport.

The bus runs every 20 to 45 minutes and you can check the timetable here.

The bus journey takes up to 45 minutes to reach the centre because it stops along the way including the main train station called María Zambrano. This is a centric station in Málaga located inside a commercial centre.

How to Get from Málaga Airport to the City Centre by Train

The pros are that the train is a faster alternative, especially during peak times. also, trains provide a more comfortable journey with seating options. Lastly, the train station is easily accessible from the airport.

Some cons are that the trains may have a less frequent schedule compared to buses and the tickets can be slightly more expensive than bus tickets.

Location: The station is not very far from the exit at arrivals. Walk straight as you come out and at the bus stop cross the road. Behind the building, you’ll find the train station. Board the Cercanías train (C-1 line) for a direct route to Málaga city centre.

Tickets are available at the station or online, and the journey is approximately 12 minutes. They cost 1.80 euros one way and 3.60 euros a round trip.

The train runs from Málaga Centro Alameda and Fuengirola.

How to Get from Málaga Airport to the City Centre by Taxi

Some of the pros of getting a taxi are that they offer convenience, especially with luggage or a group. Furthermore, taxis provide a direct route, saving time compared to public transport. When no traffic, it takes less than 20 minutes to get to Málaga centre.

On the other hand, taxis are more expensive for longer distances. The fare generally costs between 20 and 25 euros during the day and around 30 euros at night. Also, rush hours may lead to delays, affecting the overall journey time.

Location: Hire a taxi from the designated area just outside of arrivals on the right-hand side.

How to Get from Málaga Airport to the City Centre by Uber or Cabify

Getting an Uber or Cabify is super easy via app-based booking. Cashless transactions provide a hassle-free experience.

The availability of Uber and Cabify may vary based on the time and location.

The price will range around 12 euros during the day and 20 during the night. Important to know is that the price will increase when demand is high.

Location: The pick-up spot is in the front of the train station and is signposted.
